Sew It! Baby Booties

Here they are! My first ever Baby Booties. I'm pretty happy with them.
The sides are a bit puckered and I'm not sure why. These were my practice pair and I might do another practice pair to make sure I can make them without the puckers.

They were very simple to make and I found the Tut very easy to follow. It took me around 1 1/2 hours to make start to finish.

Sew It! It's time to Vote....

It's time to vote for the craft project for the week! If you want to join in go to Sew Chic and Unique and pick between:

or

The cloth baby shoes have been in the running for several weeks now and I know a few soon to be born babies that would look super cute in these! But my ironing board is in much need of a makeover and the jewelry wrap would help me practice my zipper skills (which I avoid like the plague!). Humm.... I may have to make them all!!
Here are a few things I've been sewing this last week:

Aprons to hold little boys crayons.

Please excuse my very reluctant model. It must be nap time.
I've been practicing sewing with elastic thread. I think I'm in love! This little girls dress started out as a top for me but I didn't have enough material. The elastic makes it shrink to about half the original size. Can't wait to get my first dress made and post pics!

Just a good example of why you should NOT sew over your pins.
Happy sewing!

My first "Sew It" Project!!

While searching the internet for summer dresses to make for myself I came across this great blog: Sew Chic and Unique. Mayya (isn't she pretty!) has great tutorials and crafty projects. She also host a weekly Sew It project where the followers vote on what they want to make that week and then we all sew it! I can't promise that I will do it every week but it makes me excited to get the machine out and start being crafty again. I have lots of ideas of dresses, purses and crafty things flowing through mind and I can't wait to get started!
"Let's Get Organized" was the project for this week. This comes from Totally Stitchin (who also has a ton of great projects!). I was so excited to get started I couldn't wait for the weekend. I had to start this on Thursday night and finish it up on Friday morning.
I have had this material for some time and didn't have any ideas of what I could do with it. It was a very odd pattern that looked like quilt pieces. It worked perfect for this project!

Here's little Ethan eating dinner while I sewed on Thursday night! He's such a good boy and comes running when he hears the machine start up.

I am happy to say I didn't have to buy anything for this project. I had everything I needed in my sewing stash. I even had a nice piece to back it with and ribbon to match.

Here is the organizer all rolled up. I don't think I will ever really need to travel with it but it looks nice.

I do like that I can hang it from the ribbon. If I make anymore I will add something across the top to make it a little stiffer so the corners don't droop down.

I had to add some cute picks of the little boy just to be a bit more crafty! I've run out of picture frames so I used some colored paper.

I loved that this was so easy to sew up and only took a few hours. Even though I didn't follow the directions exactly they were super easy to follow and adapt to the material I had on hand.
I can't wait to see what we sew up next week!!
