Ethan's New Friend

This is the second time he has been here today.
He stayed long enough for me to take 40 pictures!

Ethan thought he was so funny.

Until they both got distracted by Willy Wonka on the TV.

I think he wants to move in.

I really think he might be my Harry Dog reincarnated.

Harry would have loved to turn into a squirrel!

An Evening Outside

Eli, Ethan and I spent the cool evening outside last night. Ethan laid in the grass for awhile and was very good. I discovered why he was being so good. He had the grass to entertain him!

If you look at his right hand in the top photo you will see he is grabbing the grass. He then would try to put it into his mouth, miss, and it ended up on his chest and in his neck rolls!

This is an oak tree growing from an acorn. We found it "planted" in one of our tomato plants. We have a very large oak in our front yard but there is NO way that acorn planted itself all the way in our back yard in the freshly turned dirt. I think we have another squirrel issue!!!

I have seen the squirrels digging in the yard and we have seen several small holes dug into the dirt around our plants. Thankfully they have not bothered the plants, only the dirt. We just laughed at the thought of that squirrel planting that acorn hoping to come back one day to get it! We replanted it in a pot to see if we can keep it growing.

Here is Ethan with his first look at a lizard! Eli would have to tell you what kind it was.

Hoppy Easter!!

Happy Easter Everyone! Eli, Ethan and I went to church in the morning and ate pot roast for lunch. We spent the afternoon gardening. Here's an update on our flowerbed:

The flowers weren't growing fast enough so we bought some! But there is still hope for the little ones. We don't think any of the bulbs will make flowers this year. Hopefully next year. The big green leafy ones in back are green beans we just tossed in there! We also think there might be some sunflowers growing! Time will tell.

Here are the tomato, peppers and green beans:

We bought cages for the tomatoes because they are getting so big. We can't wait to harvest our "crop" and let Ethan have his first taste of home grown food!

Bird feeder update: We replaced the two bird feeders the squirrels broke. We bought some 100lb wire to hang them up with! Eli said if the squirrels chew through it he would buy them a bag of sunflower seeds and hand feed them!

Revenge of the Squirrels!!!!

This afternoon Ethan and I went for a walk in the backyard and this is what we found:
Our 2nd bird feeder and the Hummingbird feeder had been maliciously chewed down!!!!!! They attempted to chew through the cable wire holding up the sunflower seed feeder but didn't quite get through that one yet. I told Eli we are going to have to use some type of wire to hang them. Any idea what a squirrel can't chew through and you can buy at Home Depot?

I just don't understand why this year they are so interested it them. Last year they never touched them..... I've always love all animals, except for mean ones. I am now beginning to change my mind about the fuzzy rats that call themselves squirrels!

Squirrel Update

The wire we were using to hang the bird feeder was an old telephone wire. We all know what happened to that. This time we used a cable wire. Hopefully the squirrel will not be able to chew through it as easily! Grandpa Scotty, what do you think? Do squirrels chew through your cable wire very often? I've tried to think of some way to get a charge going through it so when the squirrel bites into it he gets a little jolt! Nothing that will hurt him. Just a little shock to tell him "Do not chew on this. It's not worth it!"

Here is Ethan in his Kick and Play. He just started grabbing the toys with his feet! Kinda like a little monkey:)

T is for Turtle, S is for Squirrel

I'm pretty sure Ethan will only be able to wear his 0-3 outfits once before growing out of them! But they are all so cute I have to get his picture everyday.

He has begun reaching out for things more and will grab it and hold it in his hand for a few seconds. If he keeps it in his hand long enough it goes right to his mouth! I always keep a burp rag around him, he's very messy, and that is his favorite thing to chew on! I've started trying to give him a teething toy but he can't seem to hold on to it long enough to chew on it! As soon as he does I'll get a pic and post it.

Here's his squirrel suit in honour of the squirrels in the back yard!He has now started sucking on his fist and sometimes his first 3 fingers! I'm trying to get him to suck his thumb but I think it's still too small! I will be happy when he starts sucking on anything but me!!!

Squirrel Attack!!! And First Upset Belly

We have these crazy squirrels in our back yard that run back and forth over the house. They sound like a heard of elephants! They are very smart. They like to torment Harry because they know he can't catch them. This one is exceptionally smart. He chewed through the wire that was holding one of my bird feeders up. Once it fell to the ground, he proceeded to eat from it all day! It was even raining yesterday and that still didn't stop him!

Ethan had his first Upset Belly last night :(. I could tell it was gas because I could fell the rumbling in his tummy and he was screaming uncontrollably. Eli and I gave him some baby gas meds (thanks Karla and Aunt Kathy), gave him a warm bath and massage. I think it came from his binge eating yesterday! I guess another growth spurt is upon us.
