Cool, Sunny Day

I have been sewing none stop (almost) for 2 1/2 days now. Lily and I decided we needed some time out in the beautiful weather!

Like her brother, she loves the swing.

Speaking of brother....

He's gone to stay with my parents for a week. That's why I'm getting so much done.

But I wouldn't give up cleaning this face for all the sewing time in the world.

We miss him!

Pink Sheets are for Girls

Eli is gone to the Gulf to dive for Coral.
I am alone with both kids for the first time.
For 5 days.
Wish me luck.

Lily and I decided that while Daddy is out of town we will have pink sheets on our bed.

We love the softness.

And the pinkness.

Pink diapers go well with pink sheets.

Lily Dawn- 1 Month Old

Lily is one month old tomorrow! Time really goes by too fast.

She does wear purple sometimes rather then pink!

She is out of her newborn clothes and into 0-3 month. Some of our NB cloth diapers are not fitting and I had to order new prefolds to get us through to the next size. The prefolds I ordered are on the small side and might not fit for too much longer. Hopefully they will fit until she will fit in her brothers One Size diapers. I think she's around 9lbs but we will find out for sure next week at our check up.

She is staying awake longer in between her naps, sometimes for 2 hours. Unfortunately, sometimes the awake time is late at night or in the middle of the night. Not so good for Mama. But Daddy gets up in the morning with Big Brother Ethan so Mama can sleep in :)

No "social" smiles yet but Daddy says she smiles at him. She hates her car seat unless the car is moving so I wear her in a wrap when we go out.

Ethan loves to pull her socks off and kiss her head.

Lily Dawn- 2 Weeks

Lily at 2 weeks
1/25/11
(Better late then never.)
8lbs 2oz

She is having a few awake periods during the day (around 15 minutes each) but mostly she sleeps for 3-4 hours, wakes to eat, diaper change and then right back to sleep.

Her belly button cord fell off so we started using our cloth diapers! I have had lots of fun trying out all the different styles on her.

My First Cloth Diapers

Mommie V

Mommie V and Funky Mama Bird are starting "Cloth Tushie Tuesday" and I thought I'd join in on the fun! Today we are talking about our first cloth diaper. My first cloth diapers were bought before Ethan was born and I was still working. Eli and I decided that I should stay home with the baby and we were looking for ways to save money. Cloth diapering was something that could save lots of money! I did a little research online and bought 15 BG 3.0 in white. I thought white would be easier to clean because I could use bleach on them. I don't have those same diapers for various reasons (see this post) but BG's are still my most trusted diapers!

We didn't start using the BG's until Ethan was 2 months old. He was just too small for them and I think I was a bit overwhelmed and wasn't ready to add one more thing to my growing list of responsibilities! I am so glad we started CDing and I can't wait to CD the Little One from the beginning. I've already started my Newborn CD stash!

Oh Yes, He Did.

You would never know it....
But this cute little boy couldn't have done it....

How innocent he looks...

But, yes. He did.

Ethan pooped on the living room carpet last night. And like the monkey he is, he played in it, he stepped in it and......(gasp!)..... he ate it. I was sitting 5 feet away and didn't see anything until it was too late.
Eli arrived home to find me on my gloved hands and knees cleaning it up. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry so I did a little of both.
Why was he naked you ask? I like to let him air out after his bath but usually put big boy unders on him to catch anything that might come out. Last night I didn't. I will from now on.

Ethan's First Camping Trip

*Update* My friend Carly from Obsessed Cloth Diapering Mama reminded me that I didn't write about using cloth diapers on our camping trip! We did and it was very easy. I took Flip covers, gdiapers, a few BG's and my new Trim from Tiny Tush (Don't forget to enter my Giveaway!). We used the Trim overnight, the Flips w/cloth inserts for the day and the BG's for traveling (it was a 3 hour trip one way). I packed my wet bag for the dirties and had no issues with smell.

The only issue we came across was what to do with the poop!!?? Do you put it in the trash bag, keep it in the diaper until you get home or toss it out in the field? Ethan only pooped once while we were there and it was a massive one so I tossed it. We weren't close to any water source so I don't think it will cause any harm. Eli said he would like to use disposable inserts the next time so we can just put the whole thing in the trash.

Overall a successful CDing Camping Trip!
We just got back from our first camping trip as a family! We had so much fun even though it rained on us over night.
Ethan loved walking around the camp checking every thing out.

Then he found the best part of camping: the food! Well, he liked the wheels on the ice chest.

Eli had fun building the camp fire. All those years of boy scouts paid off!

All the wild flowers were blooming. Everything was so green and bright. We went on our nature walk towards evening so these flowers were closing for the night. It was raining the next morning so there wasn't enough light to get any good photos.
Ethan did wake in the night but we were able to get him calmed down and nursed back to sleep. He woke the next morning happy to find himself between Mom and Dad!

Cloth Diaper CarnivalVII: I Wish I had Cloth Diapered my Newborn!

This is part of the Cloth Diapering Bloggers hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry. This month we are writing about cloth diapering a newborn. Visit Dirty Diaper Laundry to see the other participants to get some great ideas for diapering your newborn.

Before Ethan was born Eli and I had discussed how we could handle my being a Homemaker financially . On top of our list was using cloth diapers. I did some research on cloth diapers and found that BumGenius 3.0 One Size were pretty popular, trusted diapers. I liked the idea of only buying one set of diapers until potty training. (That was before I discovered my addiction to cloth!)Before I quit working I bought 15 white BG's. We washed them, stuffed them and placed them neatly in a wicker basket with a lid and that 's where they stayed for the next several months.

We got so many disposables for our shower gifts that we never had to buy any for the first 2 months! After that we started using the BG's. Ethan was born at 6lbs 13oz so he wouldn't have fit in the BG's at first.

I'm kind of glad we waited to start using them because there were so many other things on our minds like bring home a new baby!
The next time around will be different. I have already starting my newborn stash! I want to use AIO's, pockets and fitteds with covers. I've read a lot about prefolds being great with a new baby. We used them on Ethan when we didn't have enough pockets and they weren't too bad but they weren't my favorite. I enjoy the ease of the snap and velcro closures!
Visit Dirty Diaper Laundry to read about other Mamma's experence with cloth diapering a newborn!
