Hoppy Easter!!

Happy Easter Everyone! Eli, Ethan and I went to church in the morning and ate pot roast for lunch. We spent the afternoon gardening. Here's an update on our flowerbed:

The flowers weren't growing fast enough so we bought some! But there is still hope for the little ones. We don't think any of the bulbs will make flowers this year. Hopefully next year. The big green leafy ones in back are green beans we just tossed in there! We also think there might be some sunflowers growing! Time will tell.

Here are the tomato, peppers and green beans:

We bought cages for the tomatoes because they are getting so big. We can't wait to harvest our "crop" and let Ethan have his first taste of home grown food!

Bird feeder update: We replaced the two bird feeders the squirrels broke. We bought some 100lb wire to hang them up with! Eli said if the squirrels chew through it he would buy them a bag of sunflower seeds and hand feed them!

Revenge of the Squirrels!!!!

This afternoon Ethan and I went for a walk in the backyard and this is what we found:
Our 2nd bird feeder and the Hummingbird feeder had been maliciously chewed down!!!!!! They attempted to chew through the cable wire holding up the sunflower seed feeder but didn't quite get through that one yet. I told Eli we are going to have to use some type of wire to hang them. Any idea what a squirrel can't chew through and you can buy at Home Depot?

I just don't understand why this year they are so interested it them. Last year they never touched them..... I've always love all animals, except for mean ones. I am now beginning to change my mind about the fuzzy rats that call themselves squirrels!

Squirrel Update

The wire we were using to hang the bird feeder was an old telephone wire. We all know what happened to that. This time we used a cable wire. Hopefully the squirrel will not be able to chew through it as easily! Grandpa Scotty, what do you think? Do squirrels chew through your cable wire very often? I've tried to think of some way to get a charge going through it so when the squirrel bites into it he gets a little jolt! Nothing that will hurt him. Just a little shock to tell him "Do not chew on this. It's not worth it!"

Here is Ethan in his Kick and Play. He just started grabbing the toys with his feet! Kinda like a little monkey:)
