Great News!

We received good news from Jee Jee's pathology report today. There was no cancer in the lymph nodes and they got clean borders on the tissue removal! She will have to have some treatment most of the summer but good news all around. Thank you to all who have given their thoughts and prayers.

Home Again... for a few days

Ethan and I just got back from Oklahoma. My mom had her surgery on Friday so we spent a week with the grands to help out. Under the circumstances, we had a great time. We got to see lots of family we hadn't seen in awhile.
My Aunt Kathy, mom's sister, stayed with us for a few days. She and Ethan had lots of fun!
Ethan had his first taste of Green Beans and Carrots. He liked the Green Beans but not the Carrots! Ethan got to "Drive" Grandpa Scotty's T-Bucket! Scotty has been building this car for a few years and it's almost ready!
Jee Jee's Turtles were out and about after their long winter under the deck. I was able to catch a few good posies before they hid in their shells!

Week with Grandparents and Family

Ethan has been getting ready for his week long visit to South Carolina to see Eli's side of the family. He is looking forward to meeting his Grandparents, Great-Grandmother and all his many Aunts and Uncles! I couldn't resist buying these sunglasses for the trip to the beach. We are going to have so much fun!!!!

First Food

Okay, I know I said I was going to wait to give Ethan solid food until he was 6 months old, but he just seems so interested in our food and drinks! I've given him a few taste of avocado and banana. I've also given him water in his sippy cup. This morning I smashed up avocado and BM and fed him a few spoon fulls. He loved it! He has no problem eating without pushing it out of his mouth. The ped said to try new things every few days to make sure he is not allergic to anything. I think sweet potatoes or green beans next!

April's Graduation and Visit from Grands

April graduated from Officers Training on Friday so our parents (Jee Jee and Grandpa Scotty) came down from Oklahoma for the weekend. We went to April's graduation on Friday and we had a great time! We went shopping and garage sale-ing. We saw 9 deer in someones front yard and I didn't have my camera with me:(
Can you tell who was holding the baby most of the weekend? Jee Jee tried out the front carrier but I think she prefers to just hold him.
Eli and I got to go out to dinner on Thursday night while the grands took care of the little boy. It was hard for Ethan to be away from us but he made it! (And so did the grands ;) We ended the weekend with breakfast out for Mother's day. It was so good to see April and we miss her already! She has 2 weeks left in San Antonio and then it's back to Georgia for her new job. Congratulations April! We are so proud of you.

New Thirsties

Well, I broke down and bought one Thirsties diaper cover at a local store, Tiny Birds. They are, as I am told by Everyone, the best diaper cover you can get. Tiny Birds had them at the same price you could buy them online and I was having NO luck getting them used (maybe because Everyone wants them!). I bought the M size so they will last longer. They are very cute and do work really well. The lady at the store was very nice and gave me for free 4 of their organic prefolds that retail for 6.50 each! Ethan feels very Crunchy in them!

An Evening Outside

Eli, Ethan and I spent the cool evening outside last night. Ethan laid in the grass for awhile and was very good. I discovered why he was being so good. He had the grass to entertain him!

If you look at his right hand in the top photo you will see he is grabbing the grass. He then would try to put it into his mouth, miss, and it ended up on his chest and in his neck rolls!

This is an oak tree growing from an acorn. We found it "planted" in one of our tomato plants. We have a very large oak in our front yard but there is NO way that acorn planted itself all the way in our back yard in the freshly turned dirt. I think we have another squirrel issue!!!

I have seen the squirrels digging in the yard and we have seen several small holes dug into the dirt around our plants. Thankfully they have not bothered the plants, only the dirt. We just laughed at the thought of that squirrel planting that acorn hoping to come back one day to get it! We replanted it in a pot to see if we can keep it growing.

Here is Ethan with his first look at a lizard! Eli would have to tell you what kind it was.

Cheap Cloth Diaper Hunt

I have entered into the world of used, cheap cloth diapers! I never thought at age 30 I would be so into used diapers. But it's really fun and they are so cute!

I found at a garage sale on Saturday a great deal: around 30 prefolds (not sure if they are Chinese or Indian, CPF or IPF) and 14 covers including 4 Bummis (around $14 each new)
all for $5!!! The covers are very used and I will need to replace the Velcro on several but what a deal! I have to go garage sale-ing more often.

I'm thinking about making some of my own. There are so many patterns you can find online and they seem to be really simple to make. I'll let you know how it goes. And Ethan is such a good model. He doesn't mind that I change him a few times in a row so I can see what fits and what doesn't.

2nd Shots and Cup

Ethan is having a good time learning to use his cup. He knows where to put it and how to hold it. He just doesn't know to lift it up to get the water out! We're working on it.

We went for Ethan's second set of shots and 4 month check up today. All is well. He weighed just under 14lbs (35%) and was 24 1/4 in long (30%). His big head came in at 41.2cm (25%)! He is meeting all his milestones and can start solids anytime before 6 months. He did much better with the shots this time. It took him a few seconds to start to cry and only cried for a few seconds. We did give him some Tylenol before we went this morning and I think it helped.

One down, Many more to go.........
