This is part of the Cloth Diapering Bloggers hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry. This month we are writing about cloth diapering a newborn. Visit Dirty Diaper Laundry to see the other participants to get some great ideas for diapering your newborn.
Before Ethan was born Eli and I had discussed how we could handle my being a Homemaker financially . On top of our list was using cloth diapers. I did some research on cloth diapers and found that BumGenius 3.0 One Size were pretty popular, trusted diapers. I liked the idea of only buying one set of diapers until potty training. (That was before I discovered my addiction to cloth!)Before I quit working I bought 15 white BG's. We washed them, stuffed them and placed them neatly in a wicker basket with a lid and that 's where they stayed for the next several months.
We got so many disposables for our shower gifts that we never had to buy any for the first 2 months! After that we started using the BG's. Ethan was born at 6lbs 13oz so he wouldn't have fit in the BG's at first.
I'm kind of glad we waited to start using them because there were so many other things on our minds like bring home a new baby!
The next time around will be different. I have already starting my newborn stash! I want to use AIO's, pockets and fitteds with covers. I've read a lot about prefolds being great with a new baby. We used them on Ethan when we didn't have enough pockets and they weren't too bad but they weren't my favorite. I enjoy the ease of the snap and velcro closures!

I like kissuluv...but i think my faves are blueberry. I bought a TON when they were buy one get one free.
I have not tried my prefold diapers on my little one yet. Maybe I will have to give them a try since you and so many others have said thaat they are great for newborns.
I really like my fitted newborn diapers. We also use small Fuzzi Bunz. Good luck on cloth diapering your next little one.

Oh I just love to see little ones in their cloth diapers. So cute!!!
What a cutie! I am just mad at myself that I didn't start cloth diapering with my first! But I do now!
how cute!
Such a cute baby! I REALLY like fitteds and a cover for newborns. My fave would probably be Thirsties Fab Fitted because it's a million times softer than Kissaluvs and has velcro closure, which is GREAT at night even though it can be a pain in the wash. I also like prefolds on a newbie, but only in the newborn size, which is an extra expense. Folding down big prefolds for a new baby is a pain in my opinion. :) Thanks for visiting my blog!

oh wow! Look at the tiny Ethan! what a cutie - that smile in the last picture cracks me up!!
We got a ton of sposies as gifts too so I didn't cloth diaper till David was like a month old. Good thing too cause doing diaper laundry while recovering from a c-section does not sound like fun.
