First time to Garden

On Saturday we enjoyed a beautiful day outside planting our new tomato and pepper plants. Well, Eli did most of the work while Ethan and I walked around the yard enjoying!!This is our Jasmine we planted last year. It is starting to bloom. One of my best memories of nights in LA is the strong smell of Jasmine in the air.

Here are a few of our bulbs we planted last year. We have a total of 13 coming up!!! I think we planted around 60. We may not be able to grow bulbs but we make good babies!

Here is Ethan in his blue bonnet. He thinks he's hungry as always!

Here are a few more of our finished product. A few house plants and Eli's Tomatoes and Peppers. This will be my 4th try to grow Rosemary in Texas. Wish me luck!

Well, you have your priorities straight....making good babies is more important than raising bulbs anyway! At least some of them came up for you to enjoy!

One thing I've noticed about bulbs is that up to a point anyway, you get what you pay for. If you got your bulbs at Wal-Mart (or Lowe's or Home Depot), you did well to get anything at all out of them. I've had much better success with bulbs from mail-order places. I'm not sure why unless it involves storage conditions.

I'm glad Ethan loves being outdoors. Eli always found it calming and interesting. (Read: at 4 mnths old or so, he could spend a happy hour or more on his blanket under a tree, just watching whatever he was watching.)

How did you know we got the bulbs at Home Depot?!? LOL. I can't wait for the weather to be good so Ethan and I can spend some time outside.

Mmmm....mainly because I've gotten them at all three stores with similar results. Unfortunately, I've done it more than once. That fits the definition of insanity..doing the same thing again and expecting different results. But the bulbs are right there, the price is right, and the pictures are so tempting.

Oh, well. Enjoy Ethan. There'll be more bulbs in the fall. I usually get mine from Gurney Seeds, which is not terribly expensive either, but they seem to do better. I've done pretty well with all the mail order places.
