Bumbo Chair

Now that Ethan's 3 months old he can sit in his

Bumbo Chair! I wish I had gotten it down sooner because he really likes it! And it is one more place he will sit for about 10 mins so I can grab a bite to eat or use the bathroom! Isn't he cute sitting up all on his own?
Here he is looking at Pooh on his feet!

Squirrel Update

The wire we were using to hang the bird feeder was an old telephone wire. We all know what happened to that. This time we used a cable wire. Hopefully the squirrel will not be able to chew through it as easily! Grandpa Scotty, what do you think? Do squirrels chew through your cable wire very often? I've tried to think of some way to get a charge going through it so when the squirrel bites into it he gets a little jolt! Nothing that will hurt him. Just a little shock to tell him "Do not chew on this. It's not worth it!"

Here is Ethan in his Kick and Play. He just started grabbing the toys with his feet! Kinda like a little monkey:)

T is for Turtle, S is for Squirrel

I'm pretty sure Ethan will only be able to wear his 0-3 outfits once before growing out of them! But they are all so cute I have to get his picture everyday.

He has begun reaching out for things more and will grab it and hold it in his hand for a few seconds. If he keeps it in his hand long enough it goes right to his mouth! I always keep a burp rag around him, he's very messy, and that is his favorite thing to chew on! I've started trying to give him a teething toy but he can't seem to hold on to it long enough to chew on it! As soon as he does I'll get a pic and post it.

Here's his squirrel suit in honour of the squirrels in the back yard!He has now started sucking on his fist and sometimes his first 3 fingers! I'm trying to get him to suck his thumb but I think it's still too small! I will be happy when he starts sucking on anything but me!!!

Camo for April!

This picture is for my sister April. She is starting her Leadership Training in the Army this week! Good Luck April! We love you!

New Clothes

I have started moving Ethan from his "Newborn" clothes to his "0-3 Month" clothes! It makes me sad:( and happy at the same time. I'm glad he is growing but I already miss that tiny baby. I thought I better get him in his 0-3 month before he grows out of them! I think he is looking more and more like me everyday;)

Squirrel Attack!!! And First Upset Belly

We have these crazy squirrels in our back yard that run back and forth over the house. They sound like a heard of elephants! They are very smart. They like to torment Harry because they know he can't catch them. This one is exceptionally smart. He chewed through the wire that was holding one of my bird feeders up. Once it fell to the ground, he proceeded to eat from it all day! It was even raining yesterday and that still didn't stop him!

Ethan had his first Upset Belly last night :(. I could tell it was gas because I could fell the rumbling in his tummy and he was screaming uncontrollably. Eli and I gave him some baby gas meds (thanks Karla and Aunt Kathy), gave him a warm bath and massage. I think it came from his binge eating yesterday! I guess another growth spurt is upon us.

First mosquito bite

While we were in Oklahoma, Ethan got his

first mosquito bite! It didn't seem to bother him and it was gone the next day.

The Green Monkey

Ethan has a fascination with a green monkey I got when I went to see Wicked in LA! He just loves looking at it so Eli attached it to his swing.

I always thought the monkey was a little scary looking but I guess Ethan doesn't really know what is scary yet! One day I'll show him The Wizard of OZ and hopefully the flying monkeys won't scare him.

Trip to Oklahoma-Spring Break

We are home from our latest trip to Oklahoma to visit Jee Jee and Grandpa Scotty! We had a great time and as always, was very relaxing for The Mommy because I never had to hold the little man except to feed him! He is so popular;).

We walked to Great-Grandma's House, took Easter pictures and ate at Chili's.

It was so nice to see my sister before she went off to "boot camp"! We love you!

Ashley's Visit

Ashley was here last weekend. We had a great time getting to know her better. Ethan loved her and couldn't take his eyes off of her! Thanks for visiting, Ashley! Can't wait to see you and the rest of the family in May!

Photo Contest

I've entered Ethan in a photo contest! The picture was taken by my sister Grape Ape. If we win I guess I will share the $ with her!!!

Go Vote!

My Sleeping Boys

This is what I found today when I went to check on Ethan sleeping. All 3 of my boys sleeping soundly together! Harry knows he is not allowed on the bed when I am in it but as soon as I get up he takes the chance and crawls into bed. He knows Eli won't wake up and now he knows the baby is just as sound of a sleeper as his daddy! Ethan didn't even seem to care that Harry pulled all the covers off of him. Aren't they sweet!? I'm in love with my little family:)
Ashley, Eli's brothers wife, is coming to see us this weekend. Ethan and I will then be going to my parents house for the next week. My sister will be joining us and bringing us home next Saturday. I will have lots of Family pictures to post when I get back!

Ceiling Fan

When we were at my parents house, Grandpa Scotty showed Ethan the ceiling fan. Now he has discovered ours in the living room! Every time he's in there and not nursing he looks up at it to see if it is moving. If it is not too cold I will turn it on slow so he can see it move.

I just knew this hat

would be too big for him but I got it out anyway and it fits him just right! He has a big head so he is going to be really smart:)

Sarah Palin for President!

Here's the button I got Eli for his Birthday!!!! I told him he has to take it to work and hang it on his computer. I didn't get him the bumper sticker because I was afraid some one would run into him on purpose! Do you think the little man would make a good running mate? I think being the one who breastfeeds the president would get me into the White House!!

First time to Garden

On Saturday we enjoyed a beautiful day outside planting our new tomato and pepper plants. Well, Eli did most of the work while Ethan and I walked around the yard enjoying!!This is our Jasmine we planted last year. It is starting to bloom. One of my best memories of nights in LA is the strong smell of Jasmine in the air.

Here are a few of our bulbs we planted last year. We have a total of 13 coming up!!! I think we planted around 60. We may not be able to grow bulbs but we make good babies!

Here is Ethan in his blue bonnet. He thinks he's hungry as always!

Here are a few more of our finished product. A few house plants and Eli's Tomatoes and Peppers. This will be my 4th try to grow Rosemary in Texas. Wish me luck!

Cloth Diapers

We are now using our Cloth Diapers!!! I am excited that it is going to save us around $80 a week and more as he gets bigger. The bigger the diaper the more expensive it gets! I was waiting for him to get big enough that the diapers didn't fall off! They're not even that bad to wash. It just takes awhile. They have to go through a cold wash then a hot wash and then one more rinse and then dry. He doesn't even seem to mind the change. They do give him a slight pear shape!

Melissa as a Baby

Well, I had to post some pics of myself when I was little to see if anyone else can see a resemblance to Ethan. I think he has my eyes and eyebrows. What do you think? These are both of me less than 1 year old.

New Hair!

I don't know if you can see it in the pic but Ethan is growing hair on his forehead!!! It started coming in just a few dark hairs at a time but now it's getting thicker and longer. Soon we might have a full head of hair!

The other pic is Ethan with his favorite colorful toys. The fish was given to him by his "little" Aunts and Uncles on Eli's side: Samuel, Hannah, Joshua and Mercy.

Ethan's First Yoga Class

As most of you know, I did yoga throughout my pregnancy and love it. Today was our first Postnatal class! It was also the first time Ethan has been around other babies. He was asleep when we first got there but woke up quickly when he heard another baby crying! He did cry at first so I nursed him for the first 10 mins. After that he started to enjoy himself while I was able to do the yoga. Most every baby there cried at least once and many were nursed to quite them down. I was able to talk to other Mom's, some I knew from prenatal, some new. I did meet one lady who had used the breast shields but only breastfeed for 6 weeks. It made me feel good that I held out this long! We are looking forward to going back each week.

We then went to the mall to visit and have lunch with one of my former co workers. Ethan slept the whole time! I guess he was worn out from all that yoga!

I think he looks just like his Daddy in the pic on the bottom! He was in a very grumpy mood when we came home from our day out.

Breastfeeding Success!!!!!!

Ethan and I are successfully nursing without the nipple guard! It is defiantly harder then with the guard but I know in the end we will both be happier. And I won't have to worry he is going to suffocate in the night because he falls asleep on it! We now have the challenge of learning how to latch on correctly therefor we have lots of pain involved. It's like starting all over! I sometimes wish we had never started using the guard in the first place but all we can do is go from here.

Wish us Luck!

First Shots

Well, we survived the 2 month Pediatric appointment and our first shots! I think the shots hurt the Mommy more than the Baby! Ethan is at 10lbs .6oz and 21 3/4in long!!!!! The Doctor said everything looked good. She did say I didn't have to nurse him for as long as I do (30min-1hour). She said he was using me as a human pacifier! I don't mind. I love to have him that close to me.

These pics are before we went to the appointment. He was smiling on command! Karla and Kathy would be so proud! He will never know what it's like to not have a camera in his face!
